The hill in the middle of the cemetery is a mass grave witch 296 casualties. When new German casualties worden found in Normandy, they will be buried in this hill. So the number of casualties on this cemetery is still rising.

- My wife and I are from Canada. We visited the La Cambe cemetery in October 2008. Despite knowing that it is a memorial to an occupying army, one cannot help being deeply moved by these quiet grounds, where so many markers read simply, "Ein Deutschen Soldaten". At the gate, there is an inscription which says that not all soldiers choose the cause for which they fight and die. This cemetery is a beautiful memorial to the fact that death knows neither war nor enemy. I am very grateful to France for permitting a place on her soil that recognizes the sacrifice of the soldiers of Germany.
