Fort Ballance
(New Zealand - Mount Crawford)
Fort Ballance was built in 1885 to prohect Wellington harbour. The fort was heavily armed with eight 6" guns. During the Second World War, the fort was operational, but the focus of coastal artillery defence shifted to the modern forts and batteries.
