Dutch War Grave Herwijnen

(Netherlands, the - Guelders - Kerkeneind (Herwijnen))

Like many strong young Dutch men, Hendrikus de Bruin was forced by the Germans to work in Germany in 1942. As 22 year old he was forced to be a sailor on the German inlandship ´Munster 15´. He worked for the German Arbeitseinsatz as a servant. On October 6th 1944 Hendrikus (Henk) was killed during a bombing. The deadcertificate says he was killed in action in Dortmund (Germany) by enemy fire. Henk was burried in Germany. Seven months later, May 20th 1945, Pastor Heemskerk told the parents of Henk the sad news about his death. Hendrikus was reburied on this cemetery.
