Commonwealth War Cemetery Reichswald Forest
(Germany - Nordrhein-Westfalen - Kleve)
The War Cemetery Reichswald Forest contains 7654 burials from the Second World War. Most were airmen who crashed in Germany and were brought here from many temporary cemeteries in Germany. There are many soldiers who have fallen during Operation Veritable (Battle of the Reichswald). The cemetery was built after the Second World War. The soldiers who died around the Rhine were buried here and at the nearby war cemetery Rheinberg. The airmen date back to the entire war. Most were crew members from RAF bombers that performed air raids on German cities during the war. They were often buried in local cemeteries, and from there they were reburied in this cemetery after the war.
