Bombardment Memorial Middelburg

The monument is a black granite column, placed on a pedestal with the text: "A solidified memory" .
The monument suggests a bomb and reminds the people of Middelburg
of the German bombardment of May 17 1940 where the center of the
city was destroyed.
On the pedestal is a plaque attached with the following text:
A "reminder solidified" at the German bombardment on 17 May 1940. Unveiled by HRH Princess Juliana of the Netherlands on May 17, 1990. Manufactured by Sigurdur Gudmundsson. At initiative of the foundation monuments Walcheren 40 - 45.
